about

- 5MAG Review:
You never know what a Leonid Nevermind record is going to sound like but you know it’s going to be dope. Leonid revisits his track “Use The Moon,” the highlight of the 2012 V/A EP Earth Tones Vol 3 from Soul People Music. I don’t know if it’s been remastered or if the grooves were flattened out in my memory but the title track sounds deeper, richer and more vibrant, like a photo filter passed over a quilt of green fields and the sun. Much love for the Canvo Remix of “Use The Moon,” which manages to nudge the notoriously leftfield Leonid Nevermind slightly onto the straight and narrow before going totally off the rails on its own. Voices hum in your ear, a sax plays a puzzling little riff and the drums drop out totally and take their time coming back into play. “Why Don’t You” is another revelation from one of our most revelatory producers.

- RA Review:
"Use the Moon" coasts on florid breezes of strings that feel like they'd burn holes through the usual curtain-drawn deep house of Soul People, with a knotted boogie bassline keeping things from floating away.

- Juno Review:
Leonid Nevermind had success with early releases on Fred P's Soul People Music, Stolen Kisses, and Nowar records a decade ago but took a five-year hiatus to enjoy life experiences in Kenya, Southern Asia, and Russia. Three years ago, now based out of Georgia, he returned with his own label Bivouac Sound where he presents his new EP titled "Use The Moon". The title track is an intoxicating deep house journey, incorporating the most arcane and magical of elements for an overall dramatic effect. Equally worthy of your attention is Canvo's remix, which strips things back for a sensual late-night mood music vibe in the vein of Moodymann's work.

about

Leonid Nevermind Granada, Spain

Too introspective and shrouded in pantheism, Leonid Nevermind's music doesn´t fit into any established category and, on the contrary, always seems to want to escape it. It doesn't matter the style or the origin, controlled or not, since it speaks widely for itself. – Input Selector ... more
